Sustainable Green Living With Other Energies

Alternative energy is extremely important in today’s global scenario. Many countries around the world have signed the Kyoto Treaty, which actively seeks to reduce pollutants and greenhouse gases on a global scale.

And this is where alternative energy sources play a vital role – in preserving the earth’s ecological balance by generating energy that doesn’t use fossil fuels, thereby conserving these non-renewable resources. This in turn significantly reduces the toxic byproducts released by fossil fuels during the energy generation process.

Putting it simply, alternative-energy is energy derived from sources other than the conventional fossil fuel sources of oil, natural gas and coal. When we say fossil fuels are nonrenewable it means that they’re limited and will gradually run out, making the process of accessing them expensive and hazardous to the environment.

The way out is to tap into the earth’s renewable resources that get replenished and won’t run out such as solar and wind energy. Although alternative energy is usually referred to as renewable energy, strictly speaking, not all alt energy resources are renewable

Plenty To Replenish!

Though one thing’s for sure – alternative energy is an environmentally sound replacement for fossil fuels that emit carbon dioxide, contributing to global warming. Global warming is another green term we often hear or read in the media. But what exactly does it mean? Global warming is basically a process which leads to an increase in air temperature due to heat trapped by greenhouse gases like methane, carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, CFCs and ozone. These greenhouses gases are a result of human activities…

As you can imagine, producing oil, coal and natural gas is a complicated physical and chemical process that have a negative impact on the environment. Whereas, alternative energy is easy to produce and requires simple equipment and processes.

There are plenty of ecologically friendly alternatives – solar, wind, tidal, geothermal and hydro power, biofuel and biomass. As compared to fossil fuels, their environmental impact and polluting properties are much less since they largely get their energy from the sun.

Go Green 

Alternative energy is a practical option to nonrenewable resources and an urgent need. If we want to repair and undo some of the environmental damage we have wrecked on our planet, our future needs to look green. And it has to start now, with our governments and ourselves… A good starting point is to switch to homemade solar and wind power systems.
